Practice Coach (Agile experience)

Optimal Workshop is building discovery tools for crafting better human experiences. Our software is used by experience designers, information architects and user researchers in over 100 countries and in over 70 languages worldwide.


Role Purpose

Cultivate individual and team success through coaching and building trusted relationships.  Demonstrated commitment to proactive culture-shaping, supporting individual’s professional and personal growth balanced with a focus on achieving excellent outcomes for Optimal Workshop.  Work with Chiefs and team Heads to ensure company strategy is aligned and communicated throughout the business area and through to squads and individuals.

Strategy and Direction

  • Coach and personally support a dedicated number of Optimal Workshop people in their growth and performance, encouraging an Agile mindset, and alignment with company strategy.
  • Coach and facilitate product delivery teams in line with company and product strategy
  • Communicate effectively across the organisation and with partners and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with PX and other Practice Coaches for consistency and alignment.
  • Champion business strategy and help others relate to and align with strategy.
  • Participate fully in the execution of Optimal Workshop’s People and Culture strategy.

Relationships

  • Champion people to unlock their potential and maximise their performance through the use of challenging, constructive and respectful conversations.
  • Personally support a number of Optimal Workshop people ensuring they are aligned with growth frameworks.
  • Seek opportunities and support people’s career progression with faculty and project work, and project leadership opportunities.
  • Recommend remuneration and reward changes, in line with company guidelines, in collaboration with Chiefs, team Heads and Faculty representatives.

Growth and Development

  • Align and support people in your area with strategy and growth and performance.
  • Lead by example and teach and facilitate productive two-way feedback conversations to help people track against expectations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate performance conversations and performance management interventions alongside Chiefs, team Heads, and PX.
  • Collaborate with Chiefs, team Heads, PX and other Practice Coaches in the pursuit of learning opportunities to extend our people.
  • Be authentic and generous with praise and enable learning experiences through the right level of autonomy and the ability to make mistakes.

Recruitment, Onboarding and Retention

  • Collaborate with PX and Chief(s) with recruitment and onboarding, supporting a positive experience for all applicants, including minimising time from application to offer. 
  • Assist with personal objective setting, remuneration and reward setting, and recognition and development of people.
  • Proactively find learning opportunities for our people to learn and extend themselves within their role and across Optimal Workshop.
  • Ensure health and wellbeing issues for our people are handled with empathy and care.

Agile Skills and experience

  • Successful application of Agile-Lean mindsets and practices from ideation to delivery for product delivery teams, working at a leadership level 
  • Effective grasp of modern product principles, the software lifecycle and practices for building successful coaching relationships with squads and product leaders.
  • Experience building and facilitating successful, healthy product squads that deliver results together while providing opportunities for individuals to perform at their highest level.
  • Understanding and optimising the commercial realities that face SaaS companies, including competitors scale and technical debt.
  • Influence and steer the Agile practice at Optimal Workshop.

People and Culture

  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and is committed to continual self-improvement, with a focus on growth and performance.
  • Engages as needed in the scoping, recruitment and onboarding of new team members. 
  • Demonstrates commitment to cross squad and team communication, collaboration and connectivity.
