How do pre-survey and post-survey questionnaires work?

As a survey creator, you can add arbitrary survey questions before or after the main survey activity.

Pre-sort questions are asked on the Welcome page. Post-sort questions are asked after the main survey activity, right before the Thank You page. You can choose from any combination of a number of different question types.

Questions with discrete answers (Single answer, Single answer dropdown and Multiple selection) can be used to filter the results based on your participants' responses.
