Video: Introduction to the OptimalSort Analysis Spreadsheet
This video provides a very brief introduction to the OptimalSort analysis spreadsheet.
The goal here is not to provide a step-by-step walkthrough of the card sorting analysis process, but rather to provide a high-level introduction to the purpose of the spreadsheet.
The purpose of the OptimalSort analysis spreadsheet is to provide a tool for analysing your open card sort results in the context of standardised category labels. In a normal open card sort, the category labels provided by your participants will be similar but not identical. Therefore, we can't generate some statistics for you automatically. You will need to determine 'standardised' category labels that capture the intentions of your participants using homogenous (standardised) language. The screencast below attempts to demonstrate this principle.
With practice, you will develop your own workflow for category standardisation using the provided spreadsheet template. In the mean time, check out the video and if you have any specific questions, just post them here on the Optimal Workshop support site.
