Set a task
What do you want people to attempt?
Often the task is to try and find something. 'Login to the website', 'Get a hold of us' or 'Buy product XYZ'. In this example, we're asking participants to try and find half a cabbage on a supermarket website.
Upload an image
Take a screenshot of the user interface you are testing. You can upload images of any dimension. This way you can test a long scrolling webpage or just the navigation menu.
Use different images for different tasks. This way you can test a workflow by testing several screens in a row.
Invite participation
When you are ready, we generate a survey URL for you to send around or place on your website. Participants don't have to download or install anything - they do it all through an internet browser.
Participants complete each task by clicking somewhere on the image associated with that task. Participation rates are often high because it is quick to do and a lot more fun than surveys they are used to.
View results immediately
No waiting for a report here! As the results roll in, heat maps for each task are dynamically generated. Clusters of clicks are combined to give percentage read outs. Adjust the size of each "cluster" to get a percentage count of clicks within a certain radius.
Here is an example of where people clicked to buy half a cabbage on a supermarket website.
Other interesting results
Chalkmark also reports the average time taken to complete each task. Pretty handy - especially for comparing times across different tasks. There is also information about how many completed and how many skipped that particular task.
A downloadable PDF of the survey results is also available once the survey is complete.
